To be completely honest, the current lineup for the seventeenth installment of the annual New England Metal & Hardcore Festival is fairly disappointing. Other than a stellar set of headliners on Saturday, most of the other bands are either relatively unknown or not particularly interesting, with Sunday having an especially weak lineup. A decent chunk of new bands were added to the bill yesterday and more or less continued these sentiments, with the exception of one excellent act. Head over the jump for the new additions and a complete, updated lineup:

The obvious highlight here is the inclusion of hometown heroes The Red Chord, which marks their second North American concert since entering an extended hiatus (the other being the MA date of Despised Icon’s recent string of reunion shows). But other than that, there are not many amazing bands within this second wave of announcements. Sure, it would be neat to see Code Orange and The Atlas Moth, but for the most part, the few truly great bands on the bill were already announced before now. Hopefully upcoming additions will add a handful of quality acts to Friday and Saturday’s lineup (as Sunday is pretty much a lost cause).

The festival will take place at the Palladium in Worcester, MA for all three days, and we have included links to buy tickets for each day above and for all three days here.
