By now, there’s really no need for this introduction. I’ve talked to you about Dorthia Cottrell numerous times, as we near the release of her solo album. Just in case you missed the earlier episodes because you’re bad at things: Cottrell has one of the most powerful voices around and the last two tracks released were simply bullets delivered straight to the the heart. And if those weren’t enough, we now have ‘Oak Grove’. Head on over the jump to listen to it. As always, bring tissues.

As before, this track really captures what I love about this album (review coming soon). It’s simple guitar lines add depth and power to Cottrell’s voice, without taking an inch from her presence and delivery. The vocalist herself is in top form, singing from the heart lyrics which are obviously close to her. We’re getting close to release time and I can’t wait for you to listen to the whole thing. It really has a “larger than the sum of its parts” quality and is sure to figure high in my end of year list. Stay tuned.
