Unearth_WatchersOfRule
I’ve heard the new album from metalcore masters Unearth, and I can say with the utmost confidence that it is their best album since The Oncoming Storm. The band has released a few tracks from the album, and now they’re streaming another at their MerchNow page. The song is called “Guards of Contagion”, and like the songs released before it, it absolutely crushes. Listen after the jump.

It sure is good to have these guys back. Along with Killswitch Engage, I’ve always considered Unearth the cream of the crop when it comes to metalcore, and Watchers of Rule will hopefully push the band into the upper echelon of modern metal. Breakdowns have become sort of a bad word in the metal scene, but I’ll argue that Unearth are the one band that still do it right. It’s hard not to bob your head when these guys lock into that groove. Seriously, the breakdowns in this new song are earth-shattering. It probably also has something to do with that crystal clear Mark Lewis production.

Watchers of Rule will be released on Oct. 28 via eOne. Pre-order here!
