At the Gates are hands down one of the most important ensembles in death metal history. Slaughter of the Soul remains one of the crowning achievement of melodic death metal. Therefore, the news that the original lineup will release an album in 2014, was met with wild enthusiasm. Now, more exciting news have been announced: At the Gates will tour across Europe this coming winter in support of their new album, At War with Reality.
Not only that but they will be backed by Triptykon. The astute among you will recognize the name. Not only have they recently released brand new tracks which sound massive, but they feature Thomas Gabriel Fischer of Celtic Frost. In essence, some of the biggest names in death metal will be present on stage this winter. Backing these titans will be the younger Morbus Chron, joining their own modern death metal to the fray. This is set to be one giant manifestation of melodic riffs and blast beats.
