Heavy Pod Is Heavy Cast! This week we talk about movies, and how our perception of them changes over time. Oh, and also music. Nekrogoblikon's cover of System of a Down's "Chop Suey", and new material from The Ocean, Mike Shinoda, Spiritbox and Pain of Salvation (which triggers a long discussion about Nordic Prog, including Leprous). Then, cool people time with Cure, Ju-on: Origins, Desperados 3 and more. Enjoy!
Heavy Pod Is Heavy Cast! After a bit of a holiday break, we return this week with a conversation about some of our favorite albums of the year! We discuss the following categories: best debut, best comeback, worst disaster, best solid album, best boring album, most opaque album, most underrated album, best non-metal album, and best album. Enjoy!
Heavy Pod Is Heavy Cast! Slow news week, but we have stuff to talk anyway. Mainly new Thy Art Is Murder, Tom "Fountainhead" Geldschläger's new instructional package, new Unearth album, new Venom single, Within the Ruins's instrumental album, Nekrogoblikon's motivational book, Bring Me The Horizon's deathcore medley, and Dream Theater's studio video (and this video on Mangini vs. Portnoy). Them on cool people time we discuss Cam again, then talk about the new She-Ra series and Tetris Effect. Enjoy!
So due to technical difficulties, my voice on this episode is pretty messed up. I tried to recover it the best I could, and Anthony helped, but it is what it is. Well, at least Eden is audible this time, and he's around! We discuss the new Nekrogoblikon album, the Behemoth live album, and the new Ghost single. Finally, the Metalsucks article discussing the difference between bands who make stupid jokes and those who believe in violent ideologies. Then, we do the deep segment on Metallica. Enjoy! (or at least try to)
Ah, NAMM. It's one of the biggest trade shows in existence, a veritable mecca for music and gear nerds. We at Heavy Blog would, of course, love nothing more than to send a few of our staffers out there to cover the event and bring back exciting news and interviews from the whole thing. Sadly, none of us lives remotely close to southern CA, and we don't exactly have the money in the Heavy Blog bank to cover airfare and lodging for people. So we had pretty much resigned ourselves to completely missing out on the event when the beautiful lads over in Seattle's A Sense of Gravity came to us with a proposition. Watch them carry the mantle for us as they catch up with esteemed bands and artists including Arkaik, Angel Vivaldi, Alaya, Painted In Exile, Nekrogoblikon, Xanthocroid, Aliases, Ola Englund, Per Nilsson, and others to find out what they've been up to and to ask the important questions like how they prefer their eggs.
