Eagles Of Death Metal Rock Our Socks Off With ‘Complexity’

I have to tell you, the artwork game has been exceptionally strong lately. I mean, would you just look at the marvel that is gracing the top of this page. And that’s just for the single! Eagles Of Death Metal, having nothing to do with death metal obviously, are gearing up for an album, Zipper Down, and are now teasing a single off of it. “Complexity” is everything but complex: it’s groovy as all hell, catchy and just plain fun. Head on over the jump to shake that moneymaker.

Josh Homme’s signature sound fits great into the synths, guitars and drums that play something between Johnny B. Goode” and a swing party. The whole thing comes together to a whole that’s easy on the ear and compelling on the pelvis. However, one must ask: what is the point of this project? Is it a statement about the nature of art and complexity, as the title track seems to suggest? Or is it just an outlet for musicians who get around a lot and just need some sweetness to take their minds off things?

Regardless of the answer, you can expect the album quite soon. We’ll keep you posted as more sounds emerge from the belly of the quite amusing beast that is Eagles of Death Metal.

Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
