Skinless are probably one of the more underrated death metal bands on the scene today. There’s not been a wealth of news from their camp over the past year, other than the fact that they went on a hiatus, reunited and have been hard at work on a new album. We reported last year that they were performing a new song live, entitled “Serpenticide,” and at last, after an excruciatingly long wait, Skinless have announced details regarding the new album this song is set to appear on, their first in eight years. Check out more details after the jump!
The album will be called Only the Ruthless Remain, and it’s set to be released on June 2 via Relapse Records. The album was recorded with Tom Case in New York save for the vocals, which were tracked in Denver, Colo. with Dave Otero at Flatline Audio. The awesome artwork you see above was done by Denver-based artist Ken Sarafin, who has done many badass album covers for bands such as Archspire, The Kennedy Veil and The Zenith Passage.
Only the Ruthless Remain is bound to be one of the most brutal albums of the year, and I can’t wait to hear it in full. While you’re waiting for a new song, why not give Skinless’ most recent album Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead a spin below?
