Deftones are easily one of the most consistently fantastic bands in the metal/rock world. The band have evolved from one of the purveyors of nu-metal to one of the coolest alternative metal and experimental bands out there. They’ve experimented with trip-hop, post-rock, groove metal, and all things in between. But now, the band are going to experiment with something different: a 16-song LP. Yes, kids. 16 tracks. Yummy.
From an interview with Rolling Stone via Lambgoat:
“I think it’s a little more of a heady record,” Moreno told Rolling Stone “I feel like we’ve gone into the songs and really dissected them. If something sounded a little straight, we took a left turn and made things a little screwy. We just tried something completely opposite, not to sabotage it, but to challenge ourselves and try new things that we haven’t done in the past. It definitely feels like we’ve taken a step from our last record. But it’s definitely a Deftones record, and it has all the elements that make us who we are. We’re not going out there to change anything, other than just thinking outside the box.
Cool shit. Super excited, and we’ll have more news as it rolls in!
