Norwegian Progressive Black Metal (or “Epic Extreme Metal” if you ask them) band Keep of Kalessin were holding an album artwork contest for their upcoming album Epistemology, and they’ve finally declared the winner, along with details of the album including a teaser. Also, remember the time when they lost their vocalist in the Amazonian jungle? Yeah. Well, the teaser makes me think they’re doing totally fine.
The teaser can be found here:
The new song kicks in at about a minute into the video. It sounds great so far – fast, epic and definitely extreme. Their previous work Reptilian is definitely in my top 3 all-time favorite albums, and the Introspection EP they released last year showed them taking their sound even further. Formerly the guitarist, now guitarist/vocalist Obsidian Claw sounds great both on the EP and in this new teaser (in fact I think he sounds better than their previous singer). Overall this tickles me in all the right ways, and this is already competing for my most anticipated album slot for 2015. Epistemology releases on February 16, 2015 via Indie Recordings. The track list is as follows:
01. Cosmic Revelation (Intro)
02. The Spiritual Relief
03. Dark Divinity
04. The Grand Design
05. Necropolis
06. Universal Core
07. Introspection
08. Epistemology
