After 15 years, Synaptic re-emerge with a murderous tech death album that dazzles and punishes with equal strength.

Ah, January. The liminal space between the old and the new, where we ruminate on our favorite releases of the year while looking ahead to even more extremity in the next. It feels entirely too early to start building those 2025 AOTY lists, but tech death dealers Synaptic are making a powerful case with Enter the Void, out tomorrow on Lifeless Chasm Records.

Enter the Void is both a debut and a rebirth for Synaptic, who haven't released any material in 15 years. Dazzlingly complex and mercilessly brutal, Enter the Void is a must-listen for technical death metal fans.

Our journey begins with cinematic synths subtly underlined with noisy guitars. Like a good film score, Synaptic wastes no time building adrenaline and anticipation. Bursting into dizzying riffs, they quickly ensnare us in their dark universe. Songs ricochet from addictively catchy melodies to meticulously executed rhythms, every note honed to deadly perfection.

Vocals are accents, highlighting each sonic microcosm with necessary harsh aggression or hypnotic incantations. Rather than overwhelm and bludgeon, Synaptic controls our focus carefully, orchestrating mind-bending songs that cut like knives. One moment, we're enraptured by minimalist soundscapes centered around guitars played at inhuman speed. The next, we're pummeled by a coordinated onslaught of drums, riffs, and howls. Enter the Void is a demanding pleasure, with new details revealing themselves with every listen. If Synaptic's re-emergence is any indication, 2025 is going to be a killer year.

Stream Enter the Void in its entirety below before its official release on Lifeless Chasm Records on January 15th. Pre-order the album on Bandcamp and follow Synaptic on Instagram.
