If you’re a fan of Heavy Blog, you’re probably into Gojira, let’s be honest. We know that it’s still a way’s away until they’re going to drop their new album, but what if we told you that we’ve got the perfect substitute to tide you over until it drops? Well, look no further than Australia’s Sanzu, who certainly take a lot from France’s metal titans but still take things into a much more death metal-oriented direction. They’re a brand new face in the scene of death metal, but their premiere EP, Painless, is one of the most exciting things in extreme metal you’ll probably hear in 2015.
Painless has absolutely no time for frilly soloing, mindless technicality or wanky time signatures. It’s here to crush and get heads banging. With just five songs, this album satisfies every metal fan’s most primal urges and conjures up some of the most sickening groove riffs that have come out of a new act in quite a while. It’s caught somewhere between the maddening dissonance of Morbid Angel, the air-tight chugging of Decapitated, and Strapping Young Lad’s wall of sound noisescapes.
Are you ready to get pummeled? Well get on over to their bandcamp and get ready to be destroyed.
