It’s been a while since I’ve discussed awesome rockers The Sword on here. I reviewed their album a couple of years ago and still feel as if it’s the band’s crowning achievement. In the years since, it’s never lost the spark it set off in me when I first heard it, and I think that it will eventually go down as a classic in the genre. The band have been quiet as of late, hard at work in the studio recording their new album. Now, we have more news about it, because the band announced that the new album is expected to be released in August!

The album, titled High Country, is due out August 21 via Razor and Tie. It was recorded in Austin, Texas with Adrian Quesada and J. Robbins, and has 15 songs. That’s quite a hefty album. If these songs are like ones from the past, they’ll average around 4-5 minutes, which means potentially this record could be over an hour long. Another way to look at it is that the band are writing shorter songs, and that the album has an overall theme to it that ties each song together. Whatever the case, I’ll be looking forward to it! In addition, the band will embark on a 25 date European run that covers the UK, Scandinavia, and a good portion of Europe. Check out the dates below! We’ll have more news as it comes in!
