It’s been three long years since we’ve heard any new material from Canadian tech death pioneers Cryptopsy, but that’s about to change. Not only are they about to embark on a U.S. tour alongside Disgorge, Erimha and Soreption, the band has just announced they’ve been writing a whole bunch of new material set to appear on a trilogy of EPs entitled The Book of Suffering, and they’ve launched an Indiegogo campaign to crowdfund the entire conception of the first album in the trilogy. Check out more info and hear a snippet of a new song after the jump!

As expected, there’s a ton of cool perks Cryptopsy are offering for contributing, the coolest of which include a performance from one of the members of Cryptopsy on a song of your own, or a mixing job by Cryptopsy’s own Christian Donaldson, who is one of the best producers in metal today, having worked with the likes of Beyond Creation, The Agonist, and many more. The money raised will go towards the recording of the EP in Donaldson’s own The Grid studio, a mixing job from Jason Suecof, a mastering job from Alan Douches, artwork by photographer Eric Sanchez, stage banners that tie into the concept of the EP for their live show, and a music video. Their asking goal is $20,000, but if they surpass it, they plan on doing even more cool things, including recording exclusive performance videos, recording a documentary of the U.S. tour they’re about to go on, recording a fifth song for the first EP, or even recording the entire second EP in the trilogy.

To whet our appetite and perhaps encourage further donation, Cryptopsy have also provided a sample of new music from the EP, and my God does it rule. Give it a listen below:

Cryptopsy has always been one of my personal favorite bands, and I cannot wait to hear their new stuff. You can bet I’ll be donating to this campaign, and you should too! Help one of the best death metal bands around make new music by going here!
