The Ocean 2015

Keeping in mind that the average album cycle for active bands is at about two years, multi-national prog outfit The Ocean would be “due” for a new record in 2015. It’s a bit presumptuous to assume that The Ocean are on that same clock, especially considering that the band sports two new members since the release of 2013’s Pelagial. However, it’s starting to look like it might be a pretty safe bet that we’ll hear new music from The Ocean before the year is out, as the band have confirmed that they are working on new music.

This past weekend, the band posted the above photo to their official Facebook page, with the caption, “greetings from the dungeon. about time to work on some new material, right?”

This follows a photo from December 26th — captioned, “new shit” — showing that new music is at least already in the demoing phase. Good news!

Hopefully the band will make enough progress during their downtime in the coming months that we will get a new album by late 2015. Of course, this is all speculation, but a new record from The Ocean would easily top the already growing list of highly anticipated albums expected this year.

As always, more info when we get it.
