Avante-Garde metal extraordinaires Diablo Swing Orchestra are on somewhat of a roll lately as they prepare to release the follow up to the fantastic Pandora’s Piñata. Between parting ways with their original vocalist and the introduction of replacement Kristin Evegård, many have been wondering what the new material will sound like. The wait is now over, as the band have official released a track entitled ‘Jigsaw Hustle’ off their as-of-yet untitled album, to precede their impending tour. Head on over the jump for your first taste.

The song itself is very much in line with what you’d expect from a band like DSO, and the band claim it’s “Very inspired by Roy Orbison and Samuel L. Jackson”. Fan reaction has been positive so far, with a few bemoaning the vocalist change and seemingly softer tone of the song compared to previous material. Judging a whole record by a single song, however, would be foolish. This writer, for one, doesn’t think that the change in vocalist would impact the entirety of the band’s sound, and reminds people that the previous albums had songs that varied greatly in “heaviness”. We’ll have to wait and see, though, as no release date for the album has been announced. Regardless, this is a band to keep your eye on.
