A while ago, we told you to listen to Verse Vica as they near their debut release, Endeavor. We’re here to update you that the little tidbits we heard then are nothing compared to what the band have in store for us with this album. To be honest, this track kind of surprised me in its balance between heavyness and progressive sensibilities. Head on over the jump to see what I’m talking about.

Yep, blast-beats open the track and are replete throughout the whole thing. The vocals are also much more guttural from what I expected and, while there is that beautiful quiet part at the two minute mark, I find it refreshing to hear a progressive band that doesn’t equate that with being soft or wholly melodic. To be honest, it’s been a while since Between the Buried and Me released an album I really loved, so I’m hungry for that unique combination: progressive structures on the one side but with guttural growls and a dedication to being heavy on the other. Verse Vica definitely hit that spot and I am now insanely excited for this release.
