Primus are the one of those bands that I play for people who say they “listen to everything man, you know?”. It takes a truly open musical mind to enjoy Pork Soda for example, my personal favorite. I’ve always relied on them for my dose of weird and it seems as if the stock is about to be refilled: the band are reuniting under their original lineup and will be released an album dedicated to nothing else than the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory musical. Yeah. Head on over the jump to confirm what you already know: this is weird and awesome.

So, what can I say? It’s certainly bass centered, as a good Primus track should be. I’m very happy to hear that Tim Alexander is on the road to health, after suffering from a heart attack last week, and will join the band on tour. Oh, didn’t I say? Primus will be hitting the road in support of this release, bringing their particular strand of insanity to select venues across the US. Check out the dates below. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
