I’ll try not to fanboy too hard, but the return of Polish death metal titans Decapitated is somewhat of a big deal for me. Their take on crushing death metal with a smattering of groove just hits the right spot and pretty much their entire back catalogue, ranging from their early and legitimate death metal material to their more recent and more groove-oriented work, is highly recommended from me. But alas, I digress — the future is bright however, if you’re a Decapitated fan.

Today the band took to their Facebook to announce that they had begun work on a new album, the follow up to 2011’s Carnival Is Forever, stating:

On March 10, 2014 Polish Tech Death masters DECAPITATED hit Hertz Studio, located at Bialystok in their native Poland, to record their sixth record. The yet untitled creation is set for a release in September via Nuclear Blast.

However, they also addressed the long-standing issue of who would be taking on the drum stool from Krimh, following his departure in 2012:

First of all we want to introduce you DECAPITATED new drummer Michal Lysejko. Some of you had a chance to meet him already during tour with LAMB OF GOD this January. Also I want to say THANK YOU to the rest of the people who took a challenge and sent their video for an audition.

I caught the band on their tour with Lamb Of God and, needless to say, Lysejko was spot on. Look forward to more great things from this band.
