Cannibal Corpse

The single most consistent band in the history of death metal are set to return. In a recent interview, bassist and general figurehead Alex Webster revealed the band’s plans for 2014 in an interview with BraveWords including letting slip some tidbits about a new album from the band that should see the light of day some time in 2014:

What are the chances that you will catch the European/ North American summer festival season?

“We will see. I really shouldn’t speak about it because we are talking about doing certain things but it might not end up happening. It isn’t solid yet. I could give you a solid answer by like February, but right now I don’t know. But what I can say, is that in February and March and then into early April we will be recording. We are going to go into Audio Hammer Studios (in Sanford, Florida) and have Mark Lewis (TRIVIUM, DEICIDE, SIX FEET UNDER) produce us. We really like a lot of stuff he’s done. We did three great records (2006’s Kill, 2009’s Evisceration Plague and 2012’s Torture) with my good friend Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL), he’s one of the best. We felt like, ‘man, we’ve done three awesome records with him, let’s try doing something different.’ Not because we are displeased with what he’s done – he did a fantastic job – but we just felt like mixing it up. We’ve been working with Erik since 2005. We thought, ‘that’s a good eight years, let’s give Mark a try for a little while and see how that goes. He’s killer.”

So, there you have it, a crash course in what to expect from the upcoming Cannibal Corpse album. I know this news is a little old, but I missed it the first time around and you can always count on CC to produce some quality death metal, so they’re definitely worth keeping an eye on.
