I’m only just now hearing about Revocation guitarist Dan Gargiulo’s side-project Artificial Brain thanks to my home away from home, Metalsucks, who are streaming a track from the group’s upcoming debut album Labyrinth Constellation. Among the text hyping the track includes mention of Gorguts, Ulcerate, Wormed, as well as namedropping producer Colin Marston. There’s no way this isn’t going to be good.
And of course, ‘Absorbing Black Ignition‘ is every bit as excellent as you might expect. It has muddied technical atmosphere and an air of avant-garde flair that makes for a challenging yet catchy listen, right up through the out-of-nowhere organ dirge that escorts the song to a close. Partake in the confusion mosh over at Metalsucks and get stoked for 2014. Labyrinth Constellation will be out February 18th through Profound Lore Records.
In the mean time, check out some old tracks I dug up on Bandcamp:
