Editors’ Picks – July 2018

Every year, it seems like Summer is more impossible. Are we growing old? Is it actually hotter? Is it both? Who knows (it’s probably the former). But the sad fact remains that patterns of routine that have helped us cope in the past, a cold glass of water here, a welcome shady corner there, are becoming more and more diminished, the returns just less effective at getting us home. Release Day Roundup – 7/27/18

Each month, we always seem to come to the same conclusion when it comes to our Editors’ Picks column: Friday release days open the floodgates and unleash a seemingly endless stream of quality new music. Head for the storm shelters. Anything that is not nailed down will be lost. Anything that can be shaken loose will not be deemed to have been nailed down. Secure your pets, and put Grandma on a long lead. A new Frontierer album, Unloved, is looming on the horizon like…

EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: It’s Time To Make A Laugh Deposit At Steaksauce Mustache’s “Space Bank”

Ever since Red Fang released their by now legendary series of music videos and, if we’re being honest, well before that, metal and humor went hand in hand. Something about the irreverence of humor, especially the over the top, nonsensical one just blends extremely well with metal’s desire to resist and non-conform. This is where Steaksauce Mustache, an Oregon based band peddling a chaotic and fuzzy version of mathcore insanity and featuring former members of Arsonists Get All The Girls, are coming from on the new single which we’re proud to premiere today. Aliens, excessive drinking (albeit of chocolate milk), bodily discharges and more all blend into an immature and deeply satisfying mix. And the music is damn good as well; head on down below to check it out!
