The Death-worshipping supergroup Gruesome just released their fantastic debut album Savage Land, and it’s a gore-riddled, razor sharp riff-filled record that would make Chuck Schuldiner extremely proud and is definitely worth your time. The Ed Repka-penned cover art features a tongue-in-cheek depiction of tribal cannibal people feasting on human body parts, and the music video for the album’s title track takes this concept one step further. There are no boobies or anything like that in the video, but there is an obscene amount of over the top gore straight out of a ’70s B-movie, including multiple disembowelments, gratuitous shots of cannibals chowing down on human organs, and one poor sap who gets the top of his noggin chopped of with a machete only to have his brains eaten like the seeds of a pomegranate. In other words, the video totally rules, and the old school death metal soundtrack that Gruesome provides makes it all the more awesome.
