Deathcore. The metal subgenre everyone loves to hate. Often decried as the lizard brain of extreme metal, deathcore has garnered a reputation for relentless chugs, mindless breakdowns, and lyrical inanity that is only rivaled by the current scene snob consensus on metalcore and nü metal. It’s not necessarily an incorrect…
Welcome, friends, to Death’s Door. Wipe your feet on the mat and pull up a bone throne. Let’s talk about September death metal. Sweet Satan, was it delectable. I’ve been harping on it for time immemorial (or since March, if we’re gonna get technical) that death metal’s 2019 has been…

All-over cartoon print deathcore is dead. Gone. All but forgotten. Music historians of the future will be the ones to decide where it sits in correlation to the hallows of extreme music history. This now leaves a pretty sizable vacuum for bands like Enterprise Earth to fill; their third studio…
You didn’t think that, once I discovered the secret of being lazy about these show notes, I’d go back to being not lazy, right? The structure of that sentence was abysmal. But I had a fun time trolling Eden this episode, and so did his new dog (RIP)! We talk about: Oddland, Disillusion, Alcest, ColdWorld, Native Construct, Babymetal, Devin Townsend, Departe, Brain Tentacles, Opeth, Orphaned Land, Infant Annihilator, Betraying the Martyrs, Inanimate Existence, Fountainhead, Anciients, Hannes Grossmann, Leander, Abnormality, Wintersun and Nader Sadek. Then, balls deep on Lamb of Dog! I mean, Lamb of God!
Deathcore bands are a dime a dozen these days, and it takes some incredibly strong talent and songwriting skills to stand apart from the crowd. Whether bands do this by bringing an element of progressive songwriting, a la Veil of Maya, by writing strong grooves, like Acrania, or by simply…
Controversial technical death metal band Rings of Saturn aren’t going away any time soon. The group have just announced that they’ve completed work on their sophomore full-length album for Unique Leader Records, and they’ll be embarking on a headlining tour this Summer with Arsonists Get All The Girls, Auras, and…
German brutal death metal band Defeated Sanity don’t need many introductions. Having a sound that is built on early Cannibal Corpse, but with a ridiculous amount of added brutality a la Disgorge, their blend of slam and technical death metal is delightful to fans of either genre. All of their releases have been met with at least some degree of acclaim, so their fourth album Passages Into Deformity has a lot to live up to.
REVIEW: Infant Annihilator’s debut album The Palpable Leprosy of Pollution.
Spoiler alert: Butts will be hurt.
Remember that silly tech-deathcore band from last week that ran around the woods and had buttsex with each other? Well as a token of gratitude for the support and their viral reach with the video, Infant Annihilator have done a deathcore style cover/remix of PSY’s cross-cultural pop hit ‘Gangnam Style.’…
