Man, the field of groovy, chunky music has been incredibly stacked lately. Here to add to this overflowing feeling of abundance are Indifferent Engine and their electrifying visualiser and song, "Crescents". This one is actually a bit left of field for me, as I'm not usually one for the more post-punk inflected approach to groove. However, "Crescents" captured my heart with its direct and powerful take on the style, less focused on the build up and its tension and more on the cathartic release, the dark tones of post-punk serving more as an underpinning to the explosive aggression. Scroll on down below to check out the track for yourself!

I think the real clincher, for me, were the vocals; there's something incredibly heartfelt in their careening between emotive cleans and ragged screams, something that captures the resigned diffidence of the track quite well. Of course the rest of the instruments aren't anything to be scoffed at, scintillating guitar leads contrasting very well with the meaty riffs, punched home by the accurate-yet-energetic drumming. Tie all of that together with some truly present and addictive bass, and you've got yourself everything you need to make a killer track.

This track comes to us from Speculative Fiction, which will be released on May 30th through the excellent Church Road Records. Make sure to head on over here to pre-order it!
