Writing the words "there's a new Fierce Deity single!" is almost as pleasurable as writing the words "a new Fierce Deity album is coming!" Happily, both of these sentences are true today, as one of the best power metal artists returns to bless us with his massive riffs, soaring vocals, and penchant for video game references. "LEViARACH" is the name of the single and, beyond coming to us from the upcoming Fierce Deity release A Terrible Fate that's due later this year, it is also full of everything which makes this project great. I have yet to hear a track from Fierce Deity that I didn't love and this one is no different. I missed the massive production and dedication to the compositions that most benefit from it, from the groovy, moving riffs replete out throughout the track and all the way to both the soaring and the deeper vocals. Like previous track from the project, "LEViARACH" is a sprawling journey, taking us from the heights of its opening passages and into the deeper, heavier, and more mysterious depths of its sound. By the time the track reaches its spiraling outro there's a real sense of distance travelled, a result of that epic style I mentioned above that no one does quite so well as this guy.
