I am thrilled to announce that it is once again Time For Riffs! This time around, we're premiering a single from Auralayer, a South Carolina trio of feedback worshipping, groove slinging purveyors of doom/stoner. Think the early days of Red Fang, when every chord and note was dripping with urgency, but with, one hand, a dash of progginess thrown in and, on the other, a dollop of sludgy sweetness that makes one think of Torche. Sounds good, right? You're damn right it does, so scroll down below to check out the track for yourself!

There's a lot of goodness to choose from but I have to say that I absolutely adore the bass on this track. Not just its (excellent) tone but also the interesting ways in which it augments the rest of the composition, adding in a lot of both that prog vibe and the sweetness I mentioned above. Tune in at around the three minute mark to see what I mean; that transitional riff works so well because of the underpinning bass groove that powers it, bouncing off of the robust drums to create the gut-punch that makes you want to headbang your neck off. Throw in the dreamy vocals and wrap it all up in thick, powerful production, and you're all set.

"You Walk" comes to us off of the brilliantly titled Thousand Petals which will see release on July 14th. If you like what you hear, and you should, then you can head on over here to pre-order the album. Riff on!
