Yes, you read that right; this is an Eden post yet it’s for some high octane, no holds barred death metal. What can I say? Sometimes you just need to cleanse your palette and Hypoxia‘s latest track is just what the doctor ordered. Sporting one Mike Hrubovcak (Monstrosity), plenty of guitars tracks, and some monstrous bass, this New York based death metal ensemble is here to do one thing and one thing only: burn a hole through your eardrums. On the way, they manage to make some death metal very clearly influenced by some of the greats yet holding its own personality and style.

Head on down below for your first state of their upcoming album, Abhorrent Disease, and the death metal goodness that is “Despise”.

Oh, boy. I think the thing that first leaped out at me when I first heard this track were the aforementioned bass-lines; they’re so prominent and well crafted, adding a real weight to the track. Second were of course the vitriolic vocals of Hrubovcak and their absolute sickening tone, channeling well the furious energies of this track, whether through deepest growl or higher screech. Everything else, including the blistering solo after the half point mark, the breakneck drums, and the production, sort of coalesced around those two elements, creating the excellent offering that is “Despise”. If you’re a fan of muscular, no-nonsense death metal then this is an album you should be watching out for!

Abhorrent Disease will be released on CD and all digital platforms on April 26th. You can head on over to their Bandcamp page above to pre-order it. Or, if you’d prefer, it’s also available for pre-order via the label, right here.
