Post-rock’s evolution from shoegaze has certainly been a fulfilling musical passage, spawning some Heavy Blog favorites including Explosions in the Sky, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Outrun the Sunlight, In Each Hand a Cutlass, Maiak, and literally countless others.
We’re blessed to constantly be discovering new artists, especially in the post-rock genre, so it was truly a treat when Atsuko Chiba entered our lives by what seemed like an accident (more an innocuous email). Their dream-pop-infused post-rock stylings were hard to deny, so we couldn’t say no to seeing them on tour. We were also pleasantly surprised to see Au Revoir on the Chicago bill. Two beautiful post-rock bands acts in one night? How could we say no? Moreover, we were treated to Nouveau as a killer opener and the equally excellent Lume to close out the show. We unfortunately don’t have images of those bands, as their lighting was quite the challenge, but please enjoy the photos of Au Revoir and Atsuko Chiba below!
