What better way to kick September off by going to a post-metal show, right? Well, that is exactly what happened on the 1st of September. Kicking things off was up-and-coming post-metal band InAeona. Although they started in 2010, InAeona were picked up by Prosthetic Records in 2014-2015 and their name and music have been spreading like wildfire ever since. Their light show was rather interesting, it’s almost like Meek Is Murder’s stage setup, DIY white lights that turn on and off with a push of a button, going on and off at sporadic moments, emitting an eerie backlight. Following InAeona were sludge masters Kylesa. Although Kylesa are sort of the “odd band out” on this lineup, they still managed to put everyone in a psychedelic trance with help from their light show. Finally, Cult Of Luna took the stage, and if you have never seen this band before, please do yourself a favor and rectify that. Travel for it if you have to.

Post-rock/post metal is a genre that is underrated, but the bands that come out of that genre are nothing short of amazing. On record, they sound great, but seeing them live is FAR better and it’s just an experience that can’t be described. Cult Of Luna’s music is covered with layers, and they execute said layers beautifully live. These pictures don’t do the event justice, but they get the job done of what you missed.

We also have photos from the September 4th show in Chicago at Reggie’s Rock Club! Joining the three aforementioned bands on stage are local post/sludge heroes Beak!
