May 27th, 2015, the second leg of the Chaos Raids America Tour hit Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, New York. Added to this show was legendary New York City black metal outfit Black Anvil. Opening the show was Vattnet Viskar, who are releasing a new album entitled Settler [review, interview] on June 16th. Having heard the album already, Settler is definitely an album that should appear on many people’s year-end lists. Next up was Black Anvil, which was surprising because usually the lineup would be the local opener(s) then the actual tour package. Following Black Anvil was Necrophagia. Necrophagia are a band that could tour with bands like Nekrogoblikon, Swashbuckle, and the like and have it be a total “awkward nerd metal gathering” kind of show. Finally, 1349 took the small stage and everything went red. Literally. All lights were off except for their red LED stage lights. Seeing them headline Gramercy Theater in Manhattan to headlining Saint Vitus in Brooklyn was honestly so cool. That’s the general feeling whenever any big band plays at this small venue.
