On May 22nd, 2015, Birmingham’s 2-piece-with-a-live-lineup Anaal Nathrakh perform at Championship Bar in Trenton, New Jersey on their very first US tour leading up to the day they performed at Maryland Death Fest. It’s always odd-yet-enjoyable when a well known band tours and plays small venues, like when Periphery played at Revolution Bar and Music Hall in Amityville, New York with The Contortionist in 2014, and when The Dillinger Escape Plan played at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn the same year. Or when Watain played at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar also the same year, and so on.
Although, the show more than likely could have been more enjoyable if the show were at say, Starland Ballroom in New Jersey, it was still great to see them in such an intimate setting. Here’s to hoping that they come back to the states in the future, but on a nationwide tour, because Anaal Nathrakh are a band you need to see live if you enjoy black metal, death metal, grindcore, and the like.
