Steve Von Till (Neurosis) Heads Down Folk Avenue With New Single

So, it appears that alongside my fabled Doom Revival™, we’re now enjoying an ancillary movement. After Windhand‘s Cottrell (review to come this week!) announced that she’ll be releasing a solo album, comes Neurosis‘s Steve Von Till with his own solo release. It appears he has decided to go in a similar path, relying on folk/blues guitars and his own magical voice. Head on over the jump to dive into his somber melodies.

Good lord. I knew his voice was amazing, but this is just spectacular. There are so many layers to it and it was obviously recorded by someone who knows what they’re doing. I loved the use of the guitar as well, whether an actual lap or an effect, and the acoustic rendering the whole thing into perfection. Needless to say, we’ll be all over this release when its finally released. Good times, people.

Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
