I’ve been listening to pretty much nothing but doom and stoner metal for the past few months, and one band that has been in constant rotation is Windhand. There’s just something about their Electric Wizard-meets-Alice in Chains vibes that I can’t get enough of, not to mention Dorthia Cottrell’s hypnotic, haunting and soothing croon. Their 2013 album Soma was one of the very best albums of that year, and this week, they are entering the studio with a legendary producer to record their new album. Find out who after the jump!
*drumroll please*
Windhand are recording their new album with revered producer Jack Endino in Seattle, whose pedigree includes working with Nirvana, Soundgarden, Black Tusk and High on Fire, to name a few. A new Windhand album is exciting enough, but knowing it’s being made with the man responsible for Nirvana’s legendary Bleach album puts it in a whole new level of awesome. This album is easily my most anticipated for this year, and if its anything near what Soma was, dare I say it has the potential to be the best album of the 2015.
Don’t believe me? Give Soma a listen below and hear what you have to look forward to. “Woodbine” is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life.
