Here at Heavy Blog Is Heavy, we love discovering new music, and there’s no better feeling than finding a new band to stoked about. One of the more recent discoveries I’ve made is Elder, a phenomenal stoner/doom metal band from Fairhaven, Massachusetts who are cut from the same sonic cloth as bands like Windhand and Pallbearer; monolithically heavy but also stunningly melodic. The band has a new album on the way called Lore, and they’ve premiered an amazing new track aptly titled ‘Legend.’ Give it a spin after the jump!

The song was premiered over at Stereogum, and it absolutely rules. The soft guitar picking at the beginning hooked me right away, and it only gets better (and heavier) from there. Like their aforementioned contemporaries, Elder have a talent for carving their way into your brain with crushing riffs and then nesting there with hauntingly beautiful melodies. ‘Legend‘ makes for an addicting listen and manages to keep your full attention over its 12-minute length; in fact, I’ve already listened to it three times and have yet to get bored of it.
Lore marks Elder’s third full-length album, and we won’t have to wait much longer for it, as it will be released at the end of this week via Armageddon Shop. Pre-order this beast of an album here, and be on the lookout for our review of it.
