Watchers of Rule is without a doubt the best album that Massachusetts metalcore-stalwarts Unearth have put out in almost a decade. It’s relentless, immensely catchy, and shows a fresh breath of life in a band that could very easily be considered veterans by this point. While the album has been out since last October, the band has only just released their first music video in support of the record, and it was directed by Dale “Rage” Resteghini and Tim Foster. While it may not exactly be a new direction for the band, “The Swarm” seems a lot more furious than anything the band put out on The March and Darkness in the Light, partially thanks to drummer Nick Pierce’s immaculate and brutally fast blast beats all delivered with a traditional grip. Buz McGrath and Ken Susi also take turns trading off great, shreddy guitar solos in-between their trademark pit-friendly breakdowns. If you’re already into Unearth, this is all you could really ask for.
Unearth have a few dates in Canada and Europe coming up in the next few months and have said they plan to add more dates in the near future. We’ll keep you posted!
