After endless teasers in the form of new singles from their upcoming album, Slipknot have finally deigned to release their full album, .5: The Gray Chapter, for complete streaming. However, there’s no playlist over at the Roadrunner Record Soundcloud, for some reason, but the good folks over at Lambgoat (seriously, we love these guys) have compiled the whole thing into one post. Check it out after the jump and some thoughts. See you there.
The full playlist from the lovely Lambgoat folks is here. Here are my thoughts: this album is terrible. Most of all, it lacks identity and cohesion; half the time the tracks don’t know where they’re going and when they do know it’s to no place interesting. I know my good friend and fellow writer Aaron Lambert will disagree, and you should expect his review of this soon, but I just can’t get into it. Then again, I’ve never been much of a Slipknot fan, bar those few songs that have long since entered the Global Playlist. In any case, give the album a listen for yourself and make up your own mind: dud or return to form?
