White Arms Of Athena have wrapped up album sessions and are preparing to drop their much-anticipated sophomore album White Arms Of Athena this December via Prosthetic Records. Recorded at God City Studios with Kurt Ballou, the record promises to be a departure from the Between the Buried and Me / Cynic hybrid and instead picks up on some heavy atmospheric sludge influence — perhaps leaning slightly towards doom in terms of “psychedelic” aesthetic instead of jazz fusion. While the group haven’t gone all post-metal on us, you can all expect their sophomore album to change things up quite a bit.
The album’s lead single ‘Heavy Sleep‘ confirms as much, and is one of the album’s shortest songs at five minutes in length. Give the track a spin below.
