Job For A Cowboy have been shapeshifters since the beginning. After the divisive yet highly influential Doom EP (2005) which helped spawn a legion of deathcore followers, the band have matured and honed their craft over the years and blossomed into a critically praised modern death metal outfit. Who would have thought that nearly a decade later, the band would be flirting heavily with legitimate progressive and technical death metal?
The group’s new track ‘Sun of Nihility‘ features some highly nuanced death metal with a wide-open structure and enough basslines to make any music nerd grin from ear-to-ear. The track’s opening moments might as well be an incredibly dark Intronaut track, which may or may not be a coincidence considering Danny Walker provided session drums. Get bewildered after the jump.
The track is set to appear on the group’s upcoming album Sun Eater, due out November 11th through Metal Blade Records. Pre-orders are now available at this location.
