I’ve heard The Necrotic Manifesto, the new album from Belgian death metal gore-mongers Aborted in its entirety, and take my word for it: it slays. If the first single they released from the album wasn’t proof enough that you should be salivating uncontrollably for this album, then maybe this will change your mind: Terrorizer has premiered a brand new lyric video for another new track, entitled ‘Coffin Upon Coffin’. Head over there to listen if you’d like, or you can listen here after the jump.
The 80’s slasher flick vibe of the video does the song justice, and it I think it serves as an even better snapshot of what The Necrotic Manifest has to offer. Aborted are masters of balancing brutality, catchiness and groove in their music, and ‘Coffin Upon Coffin’ is a perfect example of that. It also doesn’t hurt that Sven de Caluwe’s trademark over-the-top lyrics are in full effect here.
The Necrotic Manifesto drops in two weeks, on April 29. The band are offering several pre-order options, including a deluxe edition of the album that includes a bunch goodies, not the least of which is an entire card game invented by the band themselves; a first in the metal world, by my recollection. Check those out here. Aborted are also currently on a trek through North American serving as direct support for Kataklysm on the “Kill the Elite” tour. Get dates here.
Check back for a full review of The Necrotic Manifesto later this week.
