You know what’s fun? Putting your details into a website that could even be a psychotic cult trying to garner your personal information for nefarious purposes. And it seems that is exactly what Code Orange Kids are going for with their new ‘Thinners Of The Herd’ teases. If you’ve followed the band on any type of social media, then you’ve probably been sent to this bare bones site, where you can enter your name and e-mail for no reason, other than your own personal curiosity.
At heart, it’s intriguing and perfect to get people talking — something I can really appreciate. While there’s no real hard details on what it’s actually about, it’s probably fair to assume that it’s in promotion of a new album. If you’ve read any interviews with the group recently, they openly talk about it — for instance, here’s a choice conversation with drummer Jami Morgan from idobi.com:
We’re recording a record in February with Kurt. I’m really excited about it. It’s different. A lot of the heavier parts are heavier and sometimes more obvious. A lot of the odd parts are weirder and a little more anti-social. Things are a lot more blended together. It is my favorite thing we have done by miles and miles but I’m sure everyone says that about their newest record [laughs]. I think it marks a very new era for our band.
Before ending on this exchange:
If you had a time machine, what time and place would you travel to?
Hmm. I’d stay right here and now. Biz as usual. Thinning the herd.
Get hyped people!
