You may have noticed a growing trend of live sessions coming out of BBC’s Maida Vale Studio. Just this year, Tesseract, Wolves in the Throne Room, and Baroness have released music performances from the studio, with hardcore act Converge being the latest band to come out with their session in the form of a limited 7″ EP to be released soon on Deathwish, Inc.

The stunning artwork for the release was made available today, and that alone would make the EP worth collecting. It also helps though that Converge are a notoriously excellent live band and that the Live at the BBC tracklist is stellar. Here are the details:

Converge “Live at the BBC” was recorded live by Simon Askew in the historic Studio MV4 at Maida Vaile Studios at the BBC in London, August 2010. Studio MV4 is the previous home to the legendary John Peel sessions, which birthed legendary recordings from artists like New Order, The Cure, Carcass, Napalm Death and countless others.

The recording boasts live in the studio renditions of “Dark Horse”, “Axe To Fall”, “Damages”, as well as a rare, electrified version of “Hanging Moon” (the original “You Fail Me” recording features only acoustic guitars).

Special thanks to Epitaph Records, Tschepitz & Nomads of Prague, and Daniel Carter & The BBC for making this recording a reality.

No word on an official release date just yet, but expect that as well as pre-order options soon!
