Tag Archive: Poison The Well

To me, Poison the Well has always been one of those bands that everyone says I should like and get into, but I never really cared enough to try too hard. They’ve been sitting on my Last.FM recommendations for literally years, but what I’ve heard of them never inspired me to seek them out. Such is life, I suppose.

Although I never cared, obviously some people do; Poison The Well have decided to go on hiatus. Here’s the official word on the matter:

“So, after twelve years of being a band, countless tours around the world and records being released, we have made the decision to take some time to explore other interests in our lives. We’ve all reached a point where we feel like we need to take a step back from the band and pursue other things. PTW has been an all encompassing, full-time thing for such a long period that this isn’t an easy thing to do. We want to thank everyone who has supported us in anyway, whether it be buying a record or a shirt, to the occasional robbery from time to time. Once again, thanks for everything and we couldn’t have done any of this without you.”

A “hiatus” hardly ever bodes well. System of a Down are still technically on an “indefinite hiatus” and Lord knows they aren’t going to make music together for a long time. So, my condolences to all the PTW fans out there who aren’t likely to hear from the band for a long while, if ever.

Here’s their video for “Exist Underground,” which was from 2009′s The Tropic Rot.

We have another metal leak from an album that drops July 7th, and it’s Poison The Well‘s The Tropic Rot. So, that makes PTW and Job For A Cowboy out there now, but due out on the 7th. You know what else comes out on the 7th? Born of Osiris‘ album A Higher Place.

I sure hope that one’s next.

After the break, a sample from the PTW album.
