Dance Gavin Dance Have Allowed The ‘Pussy Vultures’ To Descend Upon Us

Dance Gavin Dance - Pussy Vultures

When Dance Gavin Dance released Acceptance Speech last November, we were told that a B-Side was recorded and that we might get it as a little Christmas gift the next month. Christmas came and went, and the song was nowhere to be found. Month after month passed without a word, which made me think that we might never get the phantom b-side. Then, without warning, it dropped on the 19th of September through Spotify. Rise Records have made it available to everyone through YouTube, which means you can check it out after the jump.

After hearing the song, I realized why it wasn’t on Acceptance Speech. It didn’t fit the overall tone of the album, but it makes a perfect b-side. B-sides should be where bands try something that sounds fresh and special, instead of just, “Hey, we had some left-over material that wasn’t good enough for the main album. You want it sometime, maybe?” ‘Pussy Vultures’ really shows a more subdued side of the band. It doesn’t have super technical, blazing guitar parts, but overall has a larger focus on soaring melody and feeling larger than life. Though Dance Gavin Dance do this in parts of songs, it is nice to hear it consistently throughout a single track. I could gush about this track and the band for hours, but I digress. This track was worth the nearly ten month wait and I am anxious to hear what the band brings forth with their seventh album that is currently being recorded.
