It's probably fair to say that many of us don't fully want to admit to ourselves that there probably won't be another Dillinger Escape Plan album. But, as time stretches away from those final shows at t... Read More...
Hello and welcome to September, where everything's made up and the points don't matter. Cultural references aside, September is indeed the month where the year usually goes: "Oh, you thought there was a lot of ... Read More...
Listen: it's no secret (because we choose not to make it a secret) that a vast majority of the writers and editors here at Heavy Blog belong to the left side of the political map. There are exceptions and there... Read More...
Welcome to Connecting the Dots, the column where we give a brief rundown on a central band along with a host of other projects their members, both past and present, have been involved in. It’s been a while, but we’re back, so welcome to another edition of Connecting the Dots, and today we will be focusing on mathcore masterminds The Dillinger Escape Plan! Whilst they’re soon going to be shutting up shop (R.I.P), we can remain eternally grateful to the incredible records they’ve released during their two-decade career, their vicious live performances, and the incredible other musical projects they leave in their wake. Editor's note: welcome back to our Heavy Blog Guest List feature where we give some of the bands we covered (or just adored) in 2016 a chance to publish their own Top 10 Albums of 2016. This time around we have Cyborg Octopus, a band who produced one of the funnest and most well thought out progressive metal albums of the year. Their approach to differing influences, ideas and styles can definitely be seen reflected in their chosen Top 10, which is, once again, presented to you the reader completely unedited and untouched! If you're interesting in the kind of music that a group with these far-flung tastes might make, check out their album below. Enjoy the list!
