Comeback Kid – Chosen Hell (hardcore, crossover)
I was a little tepid when the title track was first released as a single for this album. I'm not sure why. Listening back now, that track goes hard as hell and the rest assured that Chosen Hell contains another killer collection of crossover infused compositions that prove, once again, why Comeback Kid were and still are the best hardcore band of their generation.
Architect of Seth – Solitude Solaire (prog death/thrash)
Further down the thrash hole we have France's Architects of Seth whose second album in thirteen years starts off sounding like later-day Death with the thrash turned up, transitions through more of a blackened mid period and climaxes in something bordering on funeral doom. Oh, and did I mention that it's all one guy? Extremely impressive stuff!
