EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: Boss Keloid Put You On A "Pedestal"

On "Pedestal" you get a taste of the leitmotif which runs through the entire album, some strangely (and pleasingly) sweet, high pitched vocals, and a whole lot of that sound palette that makes Boss Keloid who they are.

Out of all of the underrated bands I know, Boss Keloid have to be among the most underrated. They have many virtues I could sing but the main one is that they just sound like no one else. Their type of winding, dense, and uniquely harmonic stoner/progressive rock is just inimitable. And so, I live between Keloid to Keloid release, craving the very specific flavor that only they can provide. Happily, my latest fix is almost here and good lord is it glorious! Float & Aperture leaves behind a lot of the size and grandiosity of Family The Smiling Thrush and the density of Melted On the Inch in favor of a hard to pin down etherealness. "Pedestal", the second track which I am very pleased to premiere here, will do a better job at explaining what I mean than I can. Check it out below.

God, I just love this band. On "Pedestal" you get a taste of the leitmotif which runs through the entire album, some strangely (and pleasingly) sweet, high pitched vocals, and a whole lot of that sound palette that makes Boss Keloid who they are. Which is what exactly? It's that insidious lead guitar line, the fact that I could mean any of the three (at my count) lead guitar lines, the bubbling bass, the way the whole thing feels off-kilter, hazy, and psychedelic to such a unique degree. And finally, it's the excellent lyrics, here (like on the rest of the album) turned very introverted, musing on meaning, intent, self-knowledge, and failure.

The entire release is this good. Like "Pedestal", it's angry at times. At others it's alluring, fantastical, strange, self-flagellating, self-aggrandizing, and a few dozens other emotions and perspectives besides. It's similar to previous Keloid releases but also different, uniquely its own thing just like all of their other albums. God I love this band. Please listen to this band! The full thing drops on October 23rd and you can, and should, pre-order it from the Bandcamp page above.
