In a world full of darkness, violence, and injustice, finding the means to survive can feel increasingly impossible. The pressure to move forward, to prioritize others, to not protest against abusers, can feel overwhelming. But the most effective healing almost always starts from within.
In their new music video for “Unseen Way,” the title track from their January 2026 album, Seattle-based doom/post-metal band Mother Crone attempt to pay tribute to those who have suffered gender-based violence. The video follows the journey of a fictional heroine as she confronts the violence not only in her current life, but the patterns of abuse that have dominated her past. In healing herself and her inner child, she begins to break the cycle of pain.
Swirling with hypnotic melodies and caustic riffs, Mother Crone sets the sonic backdrop for our heroine’s escape and emergence. There’s always an underlying current of uncomfortable sludginess, a reminder of the darkness that threatens to overwhelm. Yet warmer tones envelope like a protective shield, echoing across the hard journey to choose a different path and her own healing.

Be warned, the video can be hard to watch. TW: domestic violence, child abuse, gender-based violence.
