Heavy Blog is Heavy, in conjunction with Halftone Booking, are proud to announce this collaborative tour where two bands of instrumental excellence will bring their music far from the comfort of their home towns.

We’ve sung the praises of Sioum, with their latest album, Yet Further [review], where “you need only hit play to get sucked in deeper.”

However, this is our first exposure to Exterminate All Rational Thought, who deeply contrast the dystopian tones of their touring mates. Exterminate All Rational Thought are more adventurous in their instrumental endeavor, their sharp lead riffs piercing the pounding drums and bass, creating a sound more akin to The Minibosses than other progressive instrumental acts on the scene. Where the heavy drones of Sioum will lull you into a despondent trance, the straightforward nature of Exterminate All Rational Thought will delight you.

All that said, however, here are some tour dates. If these bands are coming with you, please don’t  miss them. Note that there’s a St. Louis date that does not appear on the flyer.

7/30 – O’Sullivans, Fort Wayne, IN
7/31 – Modern Cult Records, Louisville, KY
8/2 – San Loo, St. Louis, MO
8/3 – Backstage Cafe, Covington, KY
8/4 – Ruby Tuesday, Columbus, OH
8/5 – Buzzbin, Canton, OH

We have word that there may be a few more dates in the works, so stay tuned. In the meanwhile, prepare yourselves by listening to both bands’ latest releases—Yet Further and Antithesis, respectively. Yet Further is available for the very attractive Name Your Price option, while Antithesis, Exterminate All Rational Thought’s 2014 release, is a cool $4 for a digital version, or $5 for a digipak (but you can get their full discography for less than $3, if you care to buy in bulk).
