2015 is shaping up to be yet another killer year for death metal, and with the announcement of another Rivers of Nihil album, the level of quality just got raised another notch. The band just announced yesterday that they’ll be releasing their sophomore LP, entitled Monarchy, in August and decided to give us all a first taste of what’s to come! Check out the awesome new song “Perpetual Growth Machine” below.
Pardon me while I pick up my brains off the floor. “Perpetual Growth Machine” is a definite banger and shows that the band probably still thought their excellent debut album just wasn’t quite heavy enough. This band is seriously on track to be one of the most interesting new groups in this new crop of death metal bands that have emerged over the past five years or so. In a press release from Metal Blade, guitarist Brody Uttley revealed that “the songs turned out heavier, darker, sadder, and more frightening than I had ever hoped that they would.” All aboard the hype train, boys and girls. This summer could very well belong to this band.
