The blogosphere (that’s a thing, shut up) is filled with excellent writers and great places to find differing opinions and styles. Every so often though a blog comes along that reshuffles the deck a bit and focus on some new concepts or angle we weren’t really paying attention to. Rolled Up Sleeves is a great example for that, focusing on the day jobs and economical realities of musicians.
For example, did you know that Doug from Pyrrhon is an editor for another great blog, Invisible Oranges? Or that Sam Walker from Daughters is a freaking brewmaster? Or that Gary Mader from Eyehategod is a cook? Or, or, or… The blog has a host of other great stories for you alongside some more mundane ones that really drive the reality of being a musician home. This certainly opens up plenty of questions about piracy, gigs, labels and the economical realities of being a musician. Be sure to give them a read, it’s fascinating stuff!
